How to send a fax through email?

There are two different ways to send a fax using Fax Thru Email. You can send a fax using the Fax Thru Email program online, or you can send a fax using your own e-mail client (Outlook, Entourage, Thunderbird, etc.).

Fax Thru Email supports popular word processing formats (.doc, .rtf, .txt), image files (.gif, .jpg, .tif), PDF files, HTML files, and Excel worksheets (.xls).

Sending a Fax Using Fax Thru Email

Sign in to your account manager and go to the Fax Thru Email management area. The page displays the fax number assigned to your account. From here, click Launch. If you have associated Fax Thru Email to your Web-Based Email account, you can start Fax Thru Email from the Web-Based Email toolbar (this lets you open the program without having to sign in to your account manager).

To Send a Fax Using the Fax Thru Email

In Fax Thru Email, click Send Fax.

Enter the recipient's fax number, including area code. Do not enter a 1, 9, or any other special numbers that you might dial using your fax machine or telephone.

Select whether you want to include a cover sheet. You can upload your own cover sheet or have Fax Thru Email create one for you.

Upload the files that you want to include in the fax message.

Fax Thru Email converts attachments into fax pages. Supported file formats include: popular word processing formats: .doc, .rtf, .txt; image files: .gif, .jpg,.tif; PDF files, HTML files, and Excel worksheets (.xls).

Sending a Fax Using your E-mail Client

In addition to sending a fax using Fax Thru Email, you can send a fax using your own e-mail client. To send a fax, you have to log on to your e-mail client using the e-mail address you specified in Fax Thru Email. If you used an e-mail address that you have not yet set up an account for, you need to set up the account before you can send faxes.

To Send a Fax Using Your E-mail Client

From your e-mail client, compose a new message.

In the To field, type faxout@faxthruemail.com.

In the Subject field, type the recipient's fax number, for example: 480-123-4567.

If your Fax Thru Email account requires the Remote Faxing Password, in the Subject field, enter a space after the fax number and type your password.

As a file attachment to the e-mail message, add the document you want to send in the fax. Do not enter any information in the body of the e-mail message. Fax Thru Email removes all information in the body of the e-mail message.

Send the e-mail message.
